News Update

New staffs
This week a nice couple from Mindanao have joined Mercy Link as staff. Bobby and Chacha are really such a blessing to have with us. Bobby is a college teacher and Chacha is a nurse. They are now seeking for financial support to cover their monthly expences. If you would like support them please
contact us. (January 16, 2008)

New Base
We are now in the process of purchassing a building for a new base. We can no longer fit here in this small house we are renting  for our office. Our upcomming schools are also a reason for getting a bigger building. We ask your prayer and support. (January 16, 2008)

Visiting team from New Zealand
For the last two weeks we have had a great DTS team of 16 young people here with us helping in many areas of ministry. It is so great to work together with other Christians from several parts of the world. We went to hospital to paint a room, to the jail to minister to the inmates, to schools to teach the kids and young people. We always enjoy having teams here, and we know that many other people here in Calapan are of the same opinion.

Education Sponsorship
129 poor and needy young people sponsored to attend school through the education sponsorship program. Thanks to all the sponsors (October 2007).

Evangelism Outreach
Last month we had two very exciting evangelism nights. Many more people responded to the message and we saw God move in healing power through the word of knowledge. One person was healed of deafness, others suffering from pain in their bodies, were instantly healed as God called them through the word of knowledge.

Medical Outreach
For the past 4 weeks we have seen 964 patients in our free medical and dental outreaches where we are sometimes called upon to also dispense reading glasses. The outreaches were conducted in different areas of Calapan City and San Teodoro, Oriental Mindoro.

We have been assisting the local goverment with our last 3 outreaches and have approximately 4 planned. As a non Government Christian organization we also must
be very careful to not be seen by the locals as biased towards any political party. With this in mind when we were asked by a person: "Why are you supporting a government official", we became very concerned. We very quickly restarted our stance as an organization so as to avoid future misunderstandings.

Our last scheduled outreach was cancelled due to the availability of doctors.
A 7 year old boy named jesse was one of many patients who received treatment from our last outreach. He had been sick for 3 weeks and had lost a lot of weight. Praise Jesus that upon seeing him last week we were glad to see a vast improvement in his health, and his mother was this time full of joy and thanksgiving to God.

Campus Ministry
We are currently studying the gospel of John in Christian education classes at local high school. 4 different classes of about 30 students each find it interesting and enjoyable to learn of the truth of Jesus Christ.

Buiding Program
Praise god for His abundant blessing in giving us additional finances for our building program. Over the past 4 months, sponsorship has enabled us to complete an additional 9 houses as well as the repair or assistance in 6 homes. We are very busy and further funds are so much needed for struggling families.
